Come and work with Icon! Applications open for a Publicity Manager Role

Icon Books, an expanding and admired independent publisher of non-fiction, seeks an experienced publicist for a critical new role in the company.

The Publicity Manager will run individual book PR campaigns, liaise and work closely with freelance publicists, and play a key role in maintaining and building Icon’s reputation with the media. They will also be closely involved with the team in general and contribute to plans surrounding the acquisition of new books.

The ideal candidate will have around five years’ experience of managing publicity for titles at least of a profile akin to those published by Icon. They will have an excellent range of media contacts and be used to working closely with journalists, authors and their agents. They will probably be used to managing at least one junior colleague, and external freelancers. Excellent communication, internally and externally, is an essential part of the role.

The successful candidate will ensure that publicity plans are well communicated to all relevant people, and are aligned with marketing and sales. They will feel at home with a wide range of narrative non-fiction, though experience in fiction publishing and other areas is a bonus too. They will probably be familiar with Biblio, and adaptable in learning new systems and ways of working.

This is a position with huge potential to work with fantastic authors and colleagues at a time of expansion.

In return, Icon offers a salary of £35,000 p.a., generous holiday provision, a company pension scheme and an overall performance-related bonus. This position reports to the Associate Publisher.
